Did you know that...

For every ton of steel produced in an integrated steel plant (i.e. steel produced from coals and iron ore), on average 1.85 tons of carbon dioxide are emitted?

However, this amount varies a lot, depending on the quality of the raw materials. With our end-to-end process model, we figured out that the CO2 emission ranges from 1.8 to 2.2 tons.

The steel industry represents around 7% of the global CO2 emissions.* To achieve a more sustainable world, the sector needs to reduce its carbon footprint, facing a huge and complex challenge!

We see a clear trend in the utilization of our optimization model that seeks the minimum production cost to take the environmental aspects more and more into account.
