Cassotis at Exposibram 2020

December 04, 2020 Events by Cassotis Consulting

Last week, our Managing Partner, Emmanuel Marchal, participated at a major event, the Exposibram – Brazilian Mining Expo & Congress, where he debated on "The Benefits of End-To-End Integrated Planning from the Mine to Client Supply for Minimizing Penalties".

The Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM) annually promotes an event focused on emphasizing the importance of the mining industry for Brazil’s social and economic development. The initiative is also geared towards generating long-term business opportunities, drawing attention of companies and investors to the Brazilian mining sector, encouraging geological research, fostering job opportunities in multiple levels and stimulating the emergence of new production chains in various sectors of the Brazilian economy.

In its first online edition, the event took place on November 24, 25 and 26, 2020. Among others, a major purpose of the Conference was to discuss new trends and approaches to improve performance in the mining industry and the importance of incorporating business strategies. And that is precisely what Cassotis does.

Emmanuel Marchal explained how Machine Learning and Mathematical Optimization could drastically improve integrated planning in the mining industry and reduce out-of-specification deliveries. Related penalties cause substantial economic losses, but could be avoided with more integrated planning decisions. During the talk, we presented the theoretical concepts used in the project as well as some results obtained from the optimization model.

The talk is available on Cassotis channel on YouTube. To learn more about the subject, visit our Mining Industry hotsite and get in touch.
